Requirements
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Processor | Mac with an Apple Silicon chip (M1 or later) |
| System | macOS 12 or later |
| Not supported | Intel Macs, Windows, Linux |

Install Marko
- Open the downloaded .dmg file, then drag Marko into Applications.
- Open Marko from Applications. The first time, macOS reminds you the app came from the internet: click “Open”.
Marko is signed and notarized by Apple. You no longer need a trip to System Settings to open it.
Install with Homebrew
If you already use Homebrew, one command is enough:
brew install --cask merwanguerrib/marko/marko To move to a newer version later: brew upgrade --cask marko.
Your first file
Open a .md file you already have, or download the example brief. The guide How to open a .md file on Mac walks through the steps, including how to make Marko the default app.
What you can do once it is installed
- Pick up a .md file you got from an AI and fix it in a Markdown editor built for that.
- Export your document as a paginated PDF, with its tables and code: Markdown to PDF.
- Make Marko the default app for your .md files: How to open a .md file on Mac.
Trial with no account
The trial asks for no account and no credit card: you download, you install, you open a file. PDF export runs on your Mac, the document is not sent to a server to be laid out. Your .md files stay wherever you keep them.
After the trial
The full trial lasts 14 days, with no account or credit card. After that, Solo costs €5 excl. tax per month or €48 excl. tax per year. See pricing.
See it on your document. Install Marko and try this on a real Markdown file, on your Mac.
