Organize your Markdown files on Mac

The .md files pile up fast: an AI export here, some notes there, a spec in another folder. Marko gathers these documents in a local library on your Mac, so you find them without digging through Finder. The files themselves stay where they are on disk.

A library that moves nothing

The library is a view onto your documents, not a new folder that swallows them. Marko does not copy your files and does not move them: each one keeps its place on disk, its name and its path. You can still reach it from Finder, from Git or from another editor. The library brings them together on screen, it does not file them away somewhere else.

Find a document

Search looks through your library to bring back the document you have in mind. Favourites set aside the files you reopen often, so they stay a click away instead of getting lost in the list. That is the difference between knowing where a file is and hunting for it every time.

Pick up where you left off

Tabs keep several documents open at once, like a browser. When you relaunch Marko, the tabs from your last session come back: you resume your reading and your edits without reopening each file one by one. For anyone juggling a spec, some notes and an AI draft, that is a few minutes saved on every return.

Who it is for

When an AI hands you back a .md file, you save it on the spot, often in the first folder you land on. A few weeks later, the notes, the specs and the drafts are scattered across the disk. The library gives you one place to see them all, without disturbing where they are kept.

Your files stay yours

Because the library leaves files in place, nothing locks you in. A document stays a .md that opens anywhere. If you ever stop using Marko, your files are where you always kept them, untouched. The library adds a way to find them, it does not take their place.

Worth knowing

Marko does not sort your documents on its own and does not file them for you: you pick the favourites, and files never leave their folder. The app runs on Apple Silicon Macs, from macOS 12 onward; Windows, Linux and Intel Mac builds are not distributed yet. The trial runs for 14 days, with no account to create.

Frequently asked questions

Does Marko move my files into its own folder?

No. The files stay where they are on disk. The library is a view that gathers them on screen without copying or moving them.

What does the library hold?

Your Markdown documents gathered in a local view, with search, favourites and tabs reopened at launch.

Do tabs come back after I close the app?

Yes. On the next launch, Marko reopens the tabs from your last session.

See it on your document. Install Marko and try this on a real Markdown file, on your Mac.
