Privacy
Your documents stay on your Mac. This page describes the little that the website and the app collect, and what they never collect.
The Marko app
- Your files are read and saved on your Mac. Marko never sends them anywhere by itself.
- The AI assistant sends a passage only when you ask it to, to the provider you chose with your own key, or to a local model. You check the preview before anything is sent.
- Telemetry is off by default. If you turn it on, it contains no document content and no file path.
The marko.md website
- Audience measurement. We use Umami, hosted by DiwarCorp. It sets no cookie, creates no personal identifier and does not keep your IP address. It counts page views and downloads in aggregate. It honors your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting.
- Chat. The chat loads only if you click the button. It then sends your messages to the Chatwoot support tool, which DiwarCorp hosts. It may keep your conversation in the browser so you can resume it, and your email address if you give it. We use this information only to reply to you.
- Hosting. The site and the download file are served by Cloudflare, which, like any host, sees visitors’ IP addresses in order to deliver the pages.
- No advertising, no third-party trackers, no resale of data.
